Last season Auckland Sprintcar club ‘Rookie of the year’ and current Western Springs Track Championship points leader Ryan O’Connor won his first feature for 2009/10 season. The evening was also Alan Wakeling’s last regular race meeting at Western Springs after a stellar 20+ years at the top level. Was a typical Auckland day with overcast but fine day till about 5pm when the area had a shower of rain, but that didn’t keep the fans away with another great turn out.

Team Porter Hire/Hydraulink/Albany Toyota driver Jeremy Halpin won his first ever Sprintcar Feature ahead of Western Springs Track Championship points leader Ryan O’Conner and Hans Boere rounding out the podium finish. After a hot Auckland day and smaller than expected crowd filed into Western Springs Speedway Saturday Night. With the speedway in the news this week the promotion would have been hoping for a few more. With both Jonathan Allard and Ricky Logan now back home, fourteen sprintcars turned for the second to last meeting of the season.
